BMAC is an orthobiologic procedure that uses cells and signaling factors from your own bone marrow. Marrow is aspirated, concentrated, and placed into an injured joint, tendon, or soft-tissue target under ultrasound guidance. It is considered when a tendon or joint has not responded to rehabilitation, shockwave, or platelet therapies, or when the tissue quality calls for a broader autologous preparation than PRP alone.

How does it work?
Bone marrow contains platelets, growth factors, and a small population of regenerative cells. Concentrating the aspirate increases the dose of those signals delivered to the injured area. BMAC is your own tissue. It is not a cultured stem-cell product, and it is not the same as birth-tissue or donor products advertised as stem cells. Restore does not use those products for musculoskeletal care.

Often Considered For:
  • Moderate joint osteoarthritis, including knee, hip, and shoulder
  • Chronic tendinopathy and partial tendon injury that has not responded to simpler care
  • Selected ligament and enthesis injuries
  • Patients who want an autologous option and have already reviewed PRP

What Should I Expect?
The visit starts with a history, examination, and review of imaging. If BMAC is appropriate, you receive a prep plan. On procedure day, marrow is aspirated under local anesthesia, processed in the clinic, and injected with ultrasound so placement is precise. Expect soreness at the aspirate site and the treated area for several days. A written after-care and activity plan is part of the visit. Most people need a driver. Response is individual; BMAC is not a guarantee of tissue regrowth or of avoiding surgery.
