Neurosonography is a newer and exciting field of diagnostic ultrasound. In the hands of a skilled sonographer, the ultrasound can be used to map a nerve in numerous areas to evaluate for entrapment, impingement, or other pathology that can correlate with nerve type symptoms. This can often be utilized when other diagnostic nerve tests (ie: nerve conduction studies) are inconclusive or as a primary diagnostic tool. Dr. Hammonds has experience diagnosing as well as treating various nerve entrapments throughout the body, such as median nerve entrapment at the carpal tunnel, ulnar nerve entrapment at the cubital tunnel and posterior tibial nerve entrapment at the tarsal tunnel.
